Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders

Please find below a list of disorders that are currently proposed for the diagnostic category, Obsessive-Compulsive and Movement-Related Disorders. This category contains diagnoses that were listed in DSM-IV under the chapter of Anxiety Disorders as well as the chapters of Somatoform Disorders and Impulse-Control Disorders Not Elsewhere Classified. The Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum, Posttraumatic, and Dissociative Disorders Work Group has been responsible for addressing these revisions. Among the recent revisions are changes to criteria for Hair Pulling Disorder (Trichotillomania) and Skin Picking Disorder. Most of these disorders have undergone minor wording changes, and criteria have now been added for Obsessive-Compulsive or Related Disorder Attributable to Another Medical Condition, Obsessive-Compulsive or Related Disorder Not Elsewhere Classified, and Substance-Induced Obsessive-Compulsive or Related Disorders. Finally, the work group has proposed new criteria for Olfactory Reference Syndrome.

Many of the disorders that were previously listed in the Anxiety Disorders chapter in DSM-IV have been distributed throughout this chapter as well as separate chapters on Trauma- and Stressor- Related Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. For a comprehensive review of all anxiety and related disorders, please be sure to visit those chapters as well. We appreciate your review and comment on these disorders.
