Neurocognitive Disorders

Please find below a list of disorders that are currently proposed for the diagnostic category, Neurocognitive Disorders. This category contains diagnoses that were listed in DSM-IV under the chapter of Delirium, Dementia, Amnestic, and Other Cognitive Disorders. The Neurocognitive Disorders Work Group has been responsible for addressing these disorders. Among the Work Group’s proposals is the recommendation that the category be divided into three broad syndromes: Delirium, Major Neurocognitive Disorder, and Mild Neurocognitive Disorder. More recently, the work group proposed criteria for each of the etiological subtypes of Major and Mild Neurocognitive Disorder, which can be found by clicking on each of the individual subtypes listed below. The work group has also modified the diagnostic criteria for Neurocognitive Disorder due to Alzheimer’s Disease to maintain consistency with newly published consensus criteria. Finally, Neurocognitive Disorder Not Elsewhere Classified has been newly added. We appreciate your review and comment on these disorders.
